Benefits
Gingercake Recreation Club, Inc.
The Gingercake Recreation Club, Inc. (or "GRC" for short) was established by J. Alex Mull, founder of Gingercake Acres, to provide oversight and management of the services noted below. GRC is managed by an active, volunteer Board of Directors elected by the GRC membership at their annual meeting in July. The Board employs two professional staff members to manage administration and the water system & roads. The Board contracts with various vendors for other services such as road grading & clearing and pool management. The Board maintains healthy reserve funds to address special facility situations as they arise. We're very fortunate to have such a well-managed organization with excellent financial health.
Roads
GRC maintains all interior gravel roads within Gingercake Acres which includes grading, storm water control, and snow removal.
Fire Safety
GRC supports fire safety in Gingercake Acres by making generous monetary donations to the nearby Jonas Ridge Volunteer Fire Department. Additionally, we allow the JRVFD to refill their tanker trucks from the GRC water system without charge.
Drinking Water
GRC provides the clearest, coldest, and most refreshing drinking water available anywhere. It is sourced from three mountain wells within Gingercake Acres and distributed through a well-maintained pipeline system. It is regulated and certified by the State of North Carolina and always passes required testing with flying colors.
Recreation
GRC provides and maintains the J. Alex Mull Recreation Center which includes a clubhouse for meals and events, a heated swimming pool, tennis & pickleball courts, a Gaga ball pit, horseshoe pits, and a playground. Additionally, GRC sponsors a variety of activities for members including potluck meals, wine tastings, game days, water aerobics, and plant exchanges.
